Tomorrow’s societies will be shaped by the educational models of today. These models can help prepare future generations for the challenges of a world that is accelerating at increasing speeds: rapid urbanisation, global migration, digitisation, and fragmentation of the future working world. Generations of the future need training as well as education! Spatial concepts in educational buildings must be flexible and adaptable, just like their prospective users. In the context of Berlin’s urgent agenda for school building we ask: how can typologically groundbreaking school construction be implemented in the current context, and why are innovative models primarily found abroad?
