In October 2016, the new Axel Springer building was completed in the immediate vicinity of the Axel Springer high-rise building in Berlin, designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. As part of the MakeCity Open Festival, interested parties can now experience the shell of the new building up close – during an one-hour guided tour by Andreas Ludwigs, Managing Director of Axel Springer Services & Immobilien. Participants learn more about the architectural features and the design, characterised by light and openness, which enables a completely new working atmosphere. The history of the site is also part of the tour: on the 10,000 square meters between Axel-Springer-, Zimmer-, Schützen and Jerusalemer Straße, a distilled section of German history played out – from the “Spartacist Uprising” after the First World War to the construction of the Berlin Wall.
