Starting in the 1980s, Die Wiesenburg has built a name as one of Berlin’s most recognised hubs for fostering and promoting the importance of creative expression and community. Currently home to over 20 artists and craftsmen, the foundations of this cultural space have been shaken following the transfer of the property by the State to developer degewo in late 2014.
We cannot deny that the architectural landscape of Berlin is shifting. So how do cultural associations choose to respond to the changes they are faced with? Whilst they may seem diametrically opposed, can there be a way for development and preservation to harmoniously co-exist?
Join for a guided tour & discussion of Die Wiesenburg as we explore these questions and look at what Berlin’s unique urbanisation means for the future of local artistic production.
