What embodies the identity of a city? Is it the architectural jewels and landmarks — or rather the everyday city spaces, with their repetition of materials and designs? This exhibition looks for the historical details and urban uniqueness found in in the structures of the city landscape, textures and details parallel to the photography book Berlin — Beauty in the Everyday. Highlighted are the Berlin sidewalks, cobblestones, the rental apartments and their furniture, the subway platforms, and more.

The political aspect of the project focuses on the question of how to deal with these witnesses of Berlin history. Many of these urban elements could disappear — although they are worthy of historical preservation. The photographers of the exhibition are four graduates of the New School of Photography Berlin. The target audience for the exhibit and discussions are all those who are interested in the city and its urban landscape, as well as architects, landscape architects, and city planners.
