The new residential building on the corner of Glogauer Straße/Reichenberger Straße in Berlin-Kreuzberg is designed to integrate harmoniously into the pre-existing perimeter-block development scheme, while enriching it with a green accent. Inspired by the need for an ecological future and as part of a broader green agenda for the building, on the Glogauer Straße facade of the building, a vertical “living wall” has been built, absorbing traffic disturbances and noise from the adjacent streets. Rectangular balconies protrude from the green wall: a home with a garden. The long-overdue repair of this part of the urban fabric was long-overdue. Architect Sarah Rivière stands for an architecture that gives the world much more than it takes.
