Urban Transcripts is prototyping the planning game Re-Mix(C)ity and invites you to Konzulát Studios to co-create an urban vision through a participatory urban board game. Players will first take turns defining and allocating elements of the city according to their perception of the present urban conditions (e.g., infrastructure, public space, affordable housing, land values, transport links, public services, specific social and cultural features). In the second stage, players take turns reforming and redistributing these elements according to their desires and aspirations. Conducted as a rules-based board game, this two-level process will provide us not only with a participatory mode of urban analysis, but also with a visionary map of urban change. We will finish with a discussion in the company of the editors of The Urban Transcripts Journal and the residents of Konzulát Studios: how can “open access to knowledge” empower participatory city-making? And how can a participatory “open access to acting” shape the very process of citizenship and the sense of community?
