How do we become aware of our surroundings? How do we become aware of the spaces we inhabit? During a week long exploration of the concept of “habitability”, we set out to investigate our awareness of space. Taking us through an examination of space as a landscape of performance – of individual or collective self-awareness, of how we move though space – and generally the movement of earth itself. Questioning how spaces transform into habitable spaces, into peripherial spaces, into disappeared spaces. We transversed the dynamic relationship between mind and space. How our active perceptual engagement plays a role in transforming the spaces we inhabit, thereby transforming ourselves. Come join our exploratory space at the Habitability Salon.

Students from the class of Prof Nina Fischer, Experimental Film and Media Art, University of the Arts Berlin, will present their experiences of living on the edge through a series of live performances, artist talks and films. Addressing future forms of habitability in the virtual as well as in the real world.
