The construction of the residential building at Gesundbrunnen rises visibly out of the triangular plot, at the intersection of Hochstraße and a regional railway line. The H6 co-op has prepared a total of 36 residential units with a size of 70 – 118 m² in 6 full storeys on a trapezoidal floor plan. Participating in the co-op, we have agreed on clear design rules. The floor plan concept is built on an axle grid of 3.16 m. Two apartments are accessed via a staircase, while each apartment consists of two axes with individual floor plans.
Another urban contradiction: well-connected to the local and long-distance traffic, but also awash with that same traffic. In spite of the increasing demand for building plots, no-one except the co-op was particularly interested in the 1,850 m² of land, when it was sold for a moderate price by the ‘Bundeseisenbahnvermögen’ in 2014.
To achieve the required building mass to reduce noise and vibration, we have planned a prefabricated concrete sandwich façade with a structured surface.
The place’s signature is found on the accessible roof top terrace, with the free panorama of Berlin.
