This is a city hike through residential and commercial zones, through valleys and over rubble left from WWII, along the Autobahn and into woodlands with a history. Discover and explore the spacial and social mix of the city.
ICC – Funkturm – AVUS – A115 – Betontreppe – Arbeitslager Eichkamp – Mommsenstadion – Drachenberg – Le Corbusier – Jesse Owens und Pierre de Coubertin – Olympiastadion – Waldbühne – Schanzenwald – Denkzeichenweg – britische Fighting City – Verlandungsmoor Fließwiese Ruhleben – Murellenteich – Gartenkolonie Eichtal – Spreeufer – Klärwerk, Kraftwerk und Kohlehaufen – Rohrdammbrücke – Faule Spree – Siemensstadt – Wasserski – Strand in der Jungfernheide – Kulturbiergarten und Volksbühne
Itinerary
9h30 : meet at entrance to S-Bahnhof Westkreuz (there is only one)
12h30 : picnic at Schanzenwald
17h30 : arrival at Jungfernheide beach
18h – 19h : discussion and cold drinks at Kulturbiergarten
At the end of our 16km jounrey, all participants are invited to reminisce about the day with the group.
Notes
pack everything you need for a shared picnic-lunch
camera, note or sketch book will come in handy
no need for hiking shoes, just wear comfortable sneakers
