FELICITAS HILLMANN is head of the research department “Regeneration of Cities and Towns” at the IRS and holds a professorship on “Urban Transformation in International Perspective” at the Technische Universität in Berlin since june 2015. Her academic career includes positions at the Berlin Social Science Center (1995–2000), at the Institute of Economic and Social Research in Düsseldorf (2001) as well as at the Freie Universität Berlin (2001–2006). She held a professorship for Urban Geography at University of Bremen (2006–2012), a guest-professorship at the Freie Universität Berlin in Development Studies (2012/13) and at the University of Cologne in Urban Geography (2013/2014).

Her research interests have been focusing for many years on the field of migration studies, especially on international migration, urban transformation and development.
