The new SOS-Centre will serve as an open house, offering opportunities to the local residents of Moabit. At the same time, the house sees itself as an international communication platform – en embassy that aims to bridge the gap between politicians, professional bodies and the public. Providing a sheltered space for communication on an equal footing, people are encouraged to take a more active, participatory role in society – beginning with the local. Enabling such social participation through the means of education is a key aspect of the design of this inclusive centre.
