HUB
DAZ- Deutsches Architektur Zentrum- is a think-tank that facilitates the exchange, transmission and debate of ideas. An Initiative of the Association of German Architects, BDA, the DAZ acts as an independent forum in which architects, city planners, artists, citizens, users and critics come together to discuss and reflect upon current issues connected to architecture, spatial production and urban life.

During Make City, DAZ’s festival HUB incarnation will host Kristien Ring's URBAN LIVING Exhibition and two accompanying Y-Table-Talks.

Program

Which strategies make housing affordable? Which standards are needed, what can be waived? How can floor plans and connecting spaces help?

One of the solutions of creating affordable living spaces is to make them smaller. However, the demand of living space per capita is continuously rising. Urban Living projects as well as Best Practice SELF MADE CITY projects show a wide array of solutions of intelligent, flexible arrangements such as small flats connected with communal spaces or negotiable neighbourhoods. How plausible are such solutions from the point of view of housing administrations?
