Point of Interest Schöneweide
An Interpretative Masterplan for the Schöneweide’s Industrial Heritage
Along with Siemensstadt and the industrial quarters of Moabit, the former industrial site of AEG Schöneweide is of great significance not only within the context of Berlin’s history – but also that of Germany as a whole. During this studio talk, the architects will present “Point of Interest Schöneweide”, a project that aims to re-interpret the area, one of the industrial powerhouses that saw the city become a world-leading “electropolis” at the turn of the 20th Century. The architects will discuss their plan to reinstate the value of the historical site and develop an authentic visitor experience, whilst also integrating the everyday, public use of the space with a mixed-purpose residential area.
