Renegotiating the Urban Commons: as a reaction to the global economic crisis, new urban initiatives and strategies have emerged around European cities as alternative ways to envision urban planning development. Highly innovative concepts for communities founded on urban resilience cycles are being built from the ground up. How does civic empowerment of this kind shape the new urban commons? From the political to the final product: what is the limit to community driven design and how does it work?

Atelier d’architecture autogérée: Doina Petrescu, Constantin Petcou (FR) The Colombes development project (Paris, since 2011) focuses on the revitalization of a socially marginal area through community engagement through living, cultivating and recycling.
Ministry of Space: Iva Cukic and Partners (SRB) Reflecting on the future of cities. Focused on the formal creation and defense of public space, using the DIY philosophy and participative processes.
