Yet many projects have demonstrated this notion can easily become one-dimensional. Successful participation arises when the diverse ideas that exist within a group are clearly identified \u2013 and differences accepted. Not only does this change the quality of communication, it also provides a real impetus for new architectural approaches. How participation can succeed is an open question that must be repositioned at the start of any new project.
