As one of the main sources of CO2-emissions, cities need sustainable concepts of energy-oriented urban renewal. To aid in the conception of such schemes, UdK Berlin and DMSW Architekten have developed an open-source, analytic strategy tool: \u201cOpen eQuarter\u201d. Its beauty lies in its ability to analyse a whole neighbourhood: its spatial, technical, economic and ecologic aspects, thereby creating the foundation for tailor-made solutions that enable energy-oriented urban renewal.
