Program

Once destined to be demolished, nowadays Neues Kreuzberger Zentrum (NKZ) is an ambitious centre of renovation and self-organisation. During the last two decades its pragmatic tenants have adapted and repurposed the building, bringing new life to this machine à habiter. Led by an interdisciplinary team of local actors, the tour will feature a review of the social and resident-based movements contesting higher rents for privately-owned subsidised housing since 2012. Seize the opportunity to enter a Kotti flat and experience what it feels like to live the “Kreuzberger dream” as Copy&Waste utilise the building as a stage to give a performative account of a history that encompasses love, money and… competition for living space.

A Tour with:

Steffen Klewar, Copy & Waste
Andrea Schindler, NKZ/Kremer Hausverwaltung
Birgit Braun / Katharina Feldhusen, Stadtteilbibliothek
Anna Mbiya Katshunga,Anwohner Fraenkelufer
