Program

It’s a crucial question of our time: what can help us to save energy? As one of the main sources of CO2-emissions, cities need sustainable concepts of energy-oriented urban renewal. To aid in the conception of such schemes, UdK Berlin and DMSW Architekten have developed an open-source, analytic strategy tool: “Open eQuarter”. Its beauty lies in its ability to analyse a whole neighbourhood: its spatial, technical, economic and ecologic aspects, thereby creating the foundation for tailor-made solutions that enable energy-oriented urban renewal. Using the Sonnenallee area as a testing ground to showcase the tool’s key functions, the tour will consider the challenges such measures face.
