URBANEST is a residential project designed by conrad-bercah, a Milanese architect with an American education active in Berlin since 2013, in partnership with LIGNO ALP, the leading Italian company for timber structures. LIGNO ALP enables an ultra-rapid (4 week-long) assemblage onsite, working with a high level of engineering (PIRMIN JUNG) and prefabrication, making it the first “true timber multi level house” (Class 4) to be built in Berlin. URBANEST is a pilot pioneering project showcasing some of the advantages available today by resorting to fast-developing timber technology. It is also a “built reflection” on the architectural form as a contemporary index, referencing a number of Berlin’s romantic architectural works.
