Program

The rapid speed of today’s prototyping technology has led to equally fast model-making: work pieces can be created directly from data, eliminating any in between steps from the process. Three-dimensional, computer-modelled construction processes may have become common place, but can they build the ecologically-focused city of the future all by themselves? If self-organisation is defined as the spontaneous coordination of an unordered system with no external control, could this phenomenon – much discussed within the fields of natural sciences and information technology – be applied within an urban context? Terreform ONE and Biomimicry Germany present their research on the subject and host a discussion about the feasibility of successful, self-created city.
