Program

NÄGELIARCHITEKTEN are building on a graveyard: the chapel ruins, the stonemason’s facilities and gravestones of the St.Petri and St.Marien cemetery remain in situ but a of number innovative new dwellings now share the space. A series of two-storey apartments are stacked atop one another other on the northern wall, a typically Berlin windowless “brandwand”, connected via an internal system of corridors. Spiral staircase rise up the façade, connecting the flats with the garden below. Join residents, the site’s graveyard association, planners and theoreticians as they discuss the unique potential for rethinking typologies for new working and living spaces that has arisen at the Prenzlauer Allee site.
