The future is unwritten, that much we know. To influence what the future might look like, one must design it, which is precisely the task that Arup’s global Foresight + Research + Innovation team, led by Dr Chris Luebkeman, engage with every day. In the coming century urban society faces many challenges; some we know about – the increasing capacity for artificial intelligence and smart technologies to render architects and engineers obsolete – and some we don’t – what happens when cancer is eliminated but malaria no longer curable? Dr Luebkeman facilitates this Studio Talk on designing with foresight and seeking solutions for future urban living and working.
