Program

If planted in an intelligent way, colourful hedges, meadows and shrubs can provide the essential habitat for insect, animals and humans alike. The presence of bees within a city brings a range of environmental, educational and economic benefits. The award-winning initiative “Berlin is buzzing!” invites architects, building owners, tenants and gardeners to create bee-friendly habitats. By establishing honeybees on prominent rooftops throughout the city, the scheme hopes to attract some sympathy for these most important of pollinators. Giving participants the chance to climb atop Berlin’s iconic Cathedral, this tour will focus upon the honeybees that live there. Includes a presentation of the “Meeting diversity – natural design in housing,” project plus a discussion with the urban beekeepers.
